Bishan Public Library

Completion 2008

The 4-storey public library with a basement and roof terrace seeks to create a new narration for library experiences. Cantilevering forms protruding from the public library building façade serves as intimate niches for quiet contemplations. Natural light filtered through stained glass panels resemble the dappled light from a tropical tree canopy. The design aims to evoke memories and sensations of reading in a tree house.
